A positive change in our community and the world will happen when we individually strive hard and follow closely the footsteps of our Prophet S.A.W.
Khatib also briefly talks about spending our time in Ramadhan to take an inward journey by reflecting deeply with the ayahs in the Quran.
Khutbah Week 3 April 2019
This weeks Khutbah by Brother Sharif talks about the month of Sha’ban and the sunnah of our beloved Rasullullah SAW. In summary, his talk is focused around the 2 hadiths below.
It was narrated that ‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to fast until we thought he would not break his fast, and he used not to fast until we thought he would not fast. I never saw the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) fast a complete month except Ramadaan and I never saw him fast more than in Sha’baan.
Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 1868; Muslim, 1165.
Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) did not fast in any month more than Sha’baan, and he used to fast all of Sha’baan and he used to say: “Do as much of good deeds as you can, for Allaah does not get tired (of giving reward) until you get tired.” And the most beloved of prayers to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was that in which one persists even if it is little. When he offered a prayer he would persist in doing so.
Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 1869; Muslim, 782.
Khutbah Week 2 April 2019
Khatib: Brother Shahir.
This week’s khutbah touches on the importance of guarding the tongue from committing sins such as backbiting, slandering, lying and profanity.
In light of the coming month of Ramadan, Brother Shahir briefly reminded us that fasting in the month of Ramadan is not just to abstain from food and water but also to guard the tongue from sins and vain talks.
